Kaiser Permanente needed a centralized portal to manage their Oracle Xstore Retail Suite-based POS systems deployed across their extensive network of 39 hospitals and 700 medical stores. The Integration Hub was designed to provide comprehensive oversight, including log tracking and streamlined access and permission management. My role was to understand the project requirements, design the UI, and hand over the final designs to the development team.

Problem Statement

With such a vast network, Kaiser Permanente faced challenges in managing their POS systems efficiently. They needed a centralized solution to oversee all POS systems, track logs, and manage user access and permissions effectively.

1. Discover

We started by conducting stakeholder interviews to gather detailed requirements and understand the specific needs and challenges faced by KP. Additionally, we analyzed existing systems and workflows to identify areas for improvement.

Based on the insights gathered, we brainstormed ideas and created initial sketches and wireframes. The goal was to design an intuitive interface that would simplify the complex task of managing multiple POS systems.

2. Design

Wireframes to High-Fidelity Prototypes: We developed detailed wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes using Figma, ensuring that the design was aligned with KP’s branding and user needs.

  • Centralized Dashboard: Overview of all POS systems with key metrics and alerts.
  • Log Tracking: Detailed logs for monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Access Management: Tools for managing user access and permissions.
  • System Notifications: Real-time alerts and notifications for critical events.

The design focused on clarity and usability, with a clean, professional look to facilitate ease of use for administrators and managers.

3. Develop

Once the design was finalized, I prepared detailed design specifications and assets for the development team. Regular handoff meetings ensured that the developers had a clear understanding of the design and its intended functionality.
